What an RTF file looks like once FileConcat has read it
Sample board minutes. The page header comes through first, and bold text stays marked as bold.
<file path="board-minutes.rtf" language="rtf"><![CDATA[ --- Page header --- Harbor Supplies, board minutes **Board minutes, 9 October 2026** Present: Dana Ruiz, Sam Lee, Priya Shah. **Decisions** 1\. The 2027 price list is approved as drafted. 2\. The Thursday delivery trial runs until the end of January. 3\. Priya will report on the Monday backlog at the next meeting. Next meeting: 13 November, 10:00. ]]></file>
Sample RTF file, read by FileConcat 2.9.
What comes through, and what does not
In the text
- The text, with its page headers and footers. An OpenDocument list item keeps its number or bullet, and an OpenDocument chart comes through as a table of its data. An OpenDocument form field comes through as its value and a check box as [x] or [ ]. Hidden text is left out.
Not read
- Pictures and the charts in an RTF file are not described.
198 real files. markitdown printed the raw control words, scored 0.
Forty files, one to paste
Drop a folder of RTF files and they come back as one text file, each under its own name, with a token count for the whole set. An assistant that caps attachments counts it as one.

Common questions
Is my file uploaded to a server?
Not to us. FileConcat reads the file in your browser and there is no account to create. The only upload is the one you choose to make, when you paste or attach the text at your assistant.
Does it read other word processor files?
Yes. Word .docx and .doc, and OpenDocument .odt, are read the same way, each under its own name in one text file.
What happens to charts and pictures?
They are not described. A chart is a picture, so a number that exists only in a chart is not in the text. Check the chart's figures against the source before you rely on them.
Can I get plain text without tags?
Yes. Set Format to Plain before you copy or download. The tags go, and each file sits between two rules with its name, under a short summary and the file list.
Can I convert many RTF files at once?
Yes. Drop several files or a whole folder. They come back as one text file with each file under its own name, so an assistant that limits attachments takes them as one.
